Moisture, pollution, and exposure to the elements cause wear and tear to brick and mortar buildings. Damage that goes without repair can lead to leaks and cause severe deterioration. Our masonry team is committed to restoring the visual and physical integrity of the masonry so the look and function of the building is restored to its original state.
- We take great pride in working with property mangers and historical societies to restore historic buildings and monuments. Our historic masonry projects include:
- Old East and Old West Dormitories, University of North Carolina: Old East Dormitory is the oldest building in any state university system in the country. The cornerstone for the building was laid in 1784. Our restoration included tuck pointing the buildings’ brick walls, rebuilding most of limestone window sills, and lime painting the buildings with period matching lime based paint.
Duke University Wilson Recreation Center: The Wilson Recreation Center restoration project included re-pointing the “Duke” stonework, sealing and glazing all windows, and restoring the stonework to its original color.
